Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Hi Folks,

Wondering, is anyone aware of community groups / non-profits that are interested in getting involved with aquaponics? We've had great success with the Working Centre in Kitchener, retrofitting a portion of their microgreens and sprouting greenhouse to grow aquaponic basil, strawberries and tomatoes. Check out our GROW greenhouse write up, with more pictures here.

As sustainable commercial aquaponics is generally unproven in a Canadian context, we are in a research phase. To promote aquaponics within the country and further our research we are providing design / build services pro bono to non-profits in Ontario. If anyone is interested in collaborating with us, please email me at evan@waterfarmers.ca or check our our facebook page here

Great stuff. We are trying this on our little Reserve in BC

Hi Evan, Is there any time that a person could see the micro green setup at the Working Centre in Kitchener? I'm in the process of rebuilding my system in a greenhouse and like how it's setup based on what I can see in the pix, so a closer look would be helpful - I'm in London so not too bad a drive.

Cheers

Bart

Hey Bart,

We don't have any specific tours planned right now, but I was thinking about coordinating one in early September. How does that sound for you? The greenhouse is run by an organization in Kitchener, so I will have to arrange it for a convenient time for them as well.

If you'd like to discuss your greenhouse system shoot me an email. How big are you looking? We really want to get some more systems going in Canada, but it's tough with our crazy winters and the need for well-built and maintained greenhouses / controlled environments.

Cheers,

Evan
