Hi! I'm french canadian and I want to link up with people to start a small aquaponic system at my home.
I buy a 10 gallons aquarium but I don't know witch size I should buy for the growing bin.
I gonna use some clay pellets (i'm not sure of the name in english), a bell syphon and I woud like to grow some cucumber and some lettuce in this future growing bin.
Hi Alexandre, I too, started small with (3) 19gal Rubbermaid totes. One for fish and two for grow beds. I figured a 2-1 ratio would work and it did. You can count on using about 40-45% water for each grow bed using Hydroton or Hydrocorn based on 12" of media in each bed. Right now I have a 75gal fish tank and 2 45gal grow beds as well as a 4' DWR . My lettuce, swiss chard and water cress are coming right along. The big thing is to keep a close eye on your water quality. Happy fish and happy bacteria = happy plants. Have fun!
