Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

NOA Fisheries is hosting a 2-3 day workshop at the University of British Columbia in February. An impressive list of speakers. Fairly pricey, but as I am not affiliated to them in any way, I think I can voice an opinion on that subject. I'm not sure about link posting protocols so I won't link here. It would be nice to go, but work etc gets in the way. I am going to pester them to provide a synopsis of the workshops for aquapons that can't make it.

Yes, there is a great speaker lineup and I am sure it will be really good, just a pity about the high price for those of us not doing it commercially. Would be great if there were a price break for backyard growers, would love to have gone.

In this instance you really get what you pay for.  The overhead costs of a workshop of this caliber is very high. Expert speakers cost $1000 per day plus their flight and hotel and expenses.  There is also the room and equipment rental and catering then the cost of the bus rental for the tour.  We are fortunate to break even.

To have all of these experts in the same room is really worth every penny.  That is why we began hosting workshops.  We want people to get it right the first time, using tried and true researched methods and learn from experts.

Also we will be touring commercial aquaponics systems that are not open to the public.  Or next workshop will be in Ontario, then Edmonton, again so hopefully those in BC can attend this one.
