Hi Friends.

On success of the first growth bed in my flood & drain system, i extended one more growth bed with expanded clay.  No change in the water, just added more RO purified water(bangalore water is very hard water).  but in the 2nd growth bed, the leaves of the transplanted seedlings looks very faded and burnt. Am i missing a trick here? Ph value is 7. 1st bed is doing well.

Hi Abhi,

Nice idea and nice thoughts!!  Capital investements could be a huge drain on this venture for importing of stuffs & expecting to find buyers for it. Alternative is to find ways to fabricate them and sell it. Why not start with this bharatponics group. Give it a shot.  Some of us can chip in. Anir Chanda is doing it on commercial level  (that is to say he is selling the aquaponics systems http://www.urbagrow.com/) so why not join his venture and expand it to the other states of india???

Hello Friend, to promote aquaponics in india and provide all kind of support to fellow members i have few thoughts.

1. Setup a online shop / web site so that we can import all the required material and sell it. Importing in bulk will be cost effective. This would include Tanks, Water Testing Kits, Fishes, Fish Food, Plumbing equipments, Books, Aquaponics Kits etc.

2. Setup a association (Aquaponics association of india) a business group, All the people who are into auqaponics / want to learn can be a part of it and can provide trainings, support and anything required.

3. Once the association is formed we can promote aquaponics to farmers as well which could help them grow more (more production more growh).

4. I am an IT pro so can create the site / shop.

Please share your views.

Thank you Alexandre for the information re DOW Blueboard,

Yes it would be for Aquaponics...I also would like to know of local manufactures of extruded foam where we could specify the weight as well as request no fire retardant chemicals be added. Rough prices per 4'x8' board (std size sold in USA), would also be helpful.

God bless,
