I have or do belong to local clubs that include 1 horse club, 3 parrot clubs and 1 budgie club. I have seen posting that try to bring the people in this group together. Don't know how successful they have been, but I think it would be a good idea to try and create a gathering time each month, like the first Saturday of the month at different places (homes, restaurants, businesses). It is more of a social gathering not a club meeting. There is such a wide range of knowledge and experience in this group that it would probably fun to meet in person and discuss topics more freely.

Sounds like a good plan Scott.
I think this sounds like a good idea, but I don't really have any suggestions as to where a good place would be. But I'm not sure where a good central location would be for that kind of get together.
What do your other clubs do?
Completely off topic but i have one question about parrots, I've seen a guy go shopping at lowes with his parrot which was awesome cause all the kids kept coming up to him and asking questions. And I've seen another guy who had a perch set up for his parrot in the back of his truck, and he left Fry's grocery store with the parrot riding in the back of the truck like he was king of the world. Is that normal???
I want to offer my house as a meeting place, I live with my Grandmother at Tatum and Lincoln in P.V. This location is pretty much central for anyone. The backyard is perfect for a lot of you, pool and great views of Phoenix plus Ive got a little ap system.
The three parrot clubs hold their meetings at church halls. The budgie club holds their meeting at the Mesa Women's club. The horse club holds their meetings from fall to spring ( to hot in the summer) at members homes.
I was thinking that something like the horse club where someone different could open their home, show off their AP system, have pot luck food and we could talk plants, fish, worms, etc. Nothing formal just people with like interests talking with maybe some problem solving.
As for the birds, they can be very child like, especially the larger parrots. I have a greenwing macaw and he sticks to me like glue, he is fully flighted and use to go outside and fly the neighborhood. Most parrots are very social animals, just like horses and love the attention they get.

Scott, when we first started talking about a tour a while back, the idea of a monthly single-system tour was brought up, too. I rather like the idea, considering we're spread out so far. A regular tour is a great idea, too, but this would give us the opportunity to talk and socialize more.
Why don't we start this off in Oct. and since David brought us together virtually and he offered his home, then I think it is appropriate he bring us together in person for the first time.
I hope your and my invitation gets people excited! Im ready for October so let me know a middle of the month date and I be ready.
I probably couldn't manage once a month meetings, but occasionally like to tour other's aquaponics systems and once I've got mine up and running I'll open mine up for others to tour. Maybe that would be a more successful get together?
David just let me know when and where and I'll try to make it, would love to see your set up and hear how it's going for you and everyone else
