Over the past 2 days I have been siphoning out the solid 'crap' from under my raft beds. By crap I mean the semi-solid waste that has settled on the bottom --a combination of fish crap, uneaten food, algae and whatever other detritus that has accumulated.
Yesterday I only got to one side of one bank of growbeds..By that I mean one side of the 1/2 IBC's lining my pool. Today I went down the other side to get whatever waste remained.
When I first looked into the bucket i saw a 1/2 inch layer of water filled with bloodworms. Below that was a denser layer of waste. Of course I scooped up what I could of the bloodworms to feed my tank.. It was NOT much. Several netfulls might seem like a fair amount to others, but it got lost in my fishtank. At least I did not see the feeding activity I see when I feed dry pellets.
The semi-solid stuff I had in that bucket went into a couple of my worm beds. But I wonder if my worm beds are capable of consuming the volume of waste I seem to be generating.
What are you all doing with your waste?
