Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Anybody ever have their system pictures used on someone elses website without your knowledge or consent?

I recently came across a business selling greenhouses that had a picture of my system on their page. Now granted they weren't saying they built it, but the caption below it said "if you like this system check this out".

I'm not the most internet savy person on the web, and am wondering is this because of my rss feeds or embedding code setup on youtube that allows this or makes this possible?

I don't have a problem with people showing systems or should I say theirsystem to other interested party or people, but to me this just feels so wrong.

The place I saw it was at www.greenhousedesign.

Is this wrong illegal or unethical?

Post this in the forum "the good, the bad and the ugly".  There is a lot of image pilfering going on.  Your link did not get me through anywhere though - have they taken the page down or changed the URL?

Hi  Mad German,

Sorry to hear what's happened to you .We have a group set up here

http://aquaponicscommunity.com/group/thegoodthebadandtheugly

to report these type of things. May be you can move the discussion here to get more feedback and at the same time members there can get some warning about this website.

Will do, still learning my way around the site, thanks Kobus

Thanks Harold, will do, I'll try and find the site again, Kobus said the link wasn't working......in the mean time got to run to the doctors and will follow up when I get back,

Thanks all for the assistance.

Yep there is actually a thread on this topic.

Shady Websites

There are plenty of other people who have had their pictures skimmed from google images and used to help other people make money.  I would start by contacting the web site in question and asking them to please take your photo off their site (of if you don't mind them using it, then you could ask them to at least give you credit with a link to your site or blog or whatever you want.)

This worries me as well- Especially when the Jan issue of RsbdMag comes out. If anyone has any advice for me - we can take it private. I can use some solid advice on what I can do to protect & serve the community and my interests as well...Thanks?
Well, one option might be to watermark all your photos before posting them on the internet.  Of course most of us have not done that and anything already out there is easy to grab.

Here is another site's Thread with more extensive watches on web sites to do with aquaponics

Here is the site I'm referring to.

www.greenhousedesignx.com/solar-powered-aquaponics-system

Under videos its also listed, they don't say they built it or take credit for it, but looks to me like they are using it to promote their services.

What do you guys think?

Definitely, they are not ones you want your pictures and videos associated with.  IF you click on the link you get stuck into the aquaponics 4 you thing where they are trying to sell an e-book and it will continually produce pop ups which don't let you leave the page!!!!!!!!

Sorry it's an affiliate marketing scheme.

Thats what I thought, any advice on what to do next or how to approach this situation?

Thanks
