Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

HI,

I was wondering if any one has transplanted plants from their Growbed to a normal Garden bed?  I was wondering if their would be an issue with shock?

I have a bunch of seedlings that I need to thin out but I don't have enough room to individually pot them, but I have two empty beds that would hold them as they grew big enough to plant outside.

Thanks!

Transplant shock will happen and might be a bit severe for plants going form a very cushy aquaponic existence to dirt so plan on helping them out as much as you can when you transplant by providing the best possible conditions you can after transplant making sure they don't dry out and providing some shade till they settle in and perk up.

I've started many seedlings in aquaponics and transplanted them to soil, it does work though I've found starting them in coir or peat pellets on capillary matting in the AP system seems to make transplant much easier than simply ripping them out of the gravel bare root and trying to transplant them to soil which will definitely set them back.
