The problems of the first week in the bed. What's wrong?

Just started the system and planted a few young herbs (purchased in a local store) - removed soil and inserted into the bed. The system is the constant flood - water is short 1" off the top.

The pictures show to me some kind of deficiency - on all of them the leaves look very weak and some even dropped. In addition, on one of them there are bug eggs I guess?

Is it just a shock of the new system and I should give them few days to adopt it or I need to treat it somehow? What to do with the insect eggs?

The water shows very normal I guess (only ammonia/ph at the time being). What is wrong here? Or is it just the shock for the plants of being in the new environment?

You said you just started your system? Where are you at? Have you cycled your system yet?

Regardless, aquaponic systems just take time to mature. 6 months is the magical milestone. When that time comes around, your plants will be doing fine and dandy. The first few months are always a struggle with the plant side of things. Word of advice: don't rely to heavily on what you learn regarding what works and what doesn't work for the plants in your aquaponics setup until after you reach the 6 month mark.

with a constant flood system, i've found it's better to lower the water level to 3 or 4 inches below the surface..

thanks to both of you! will keep you posted
