<p>Thanks George but it is not a matter of "curiosity". It is a matter of consistency in testing. Adjusting variables before any testing is complete can render the final result null and void. The question was simply was anyone aware of differences in the kits, specifically the POND kit I purchased by mistake and the FRESHWATER lot I probably should have purchased. I contacted MARS the API manufacturer and yes there is differences, one in the swatches and also in the number of chem drops…</p>

<p>You may be curious about how much nitrate you have in your system but other than that I don't see how it matters, so long as your ammonia and nitrite levels are low. Generally, my ammonia is at .25 and nitrite 0. I test for nitrates once in a while but have never had much in my system. If you have plants, they'll take it up.</p>
