I am in the process of developing a greenhouse that will make use of supplemental lighting. I have plenty of experience with aquaponics and greenhouses but I've never done an aquaponics greenhouse. I would like to use supplemental lighting in the winter so that I can change the seasonal growing options. I've never tried this before. I was wondering if there might be some shock to the plants by changing the type of light they get at the beginning or end of the day. I am probably going to use LED lighting for my system. I was also wondering if there was an optimum time of the day to flip on the lights in order to offset the shorter day light hours. I intend to power the LED lights with a solar system. I am thinking of controlling the entire system with a network of RaspberryPi controllers.
Any input would be greatly appreciated,
