no they where silver, now dark brown with what looks like green spots. When I took one out to look at it, ( was very easy to net) it was weak and had what looks like a green slime. Only had him out for a few seconds but when I put him back he went belly up. Any ideas?

Can you post pictures?

not feeding, and not changing water, should I?

ah, sorry,

only water I'll have will be tap and I just got some  dechlorinator and conditioning to help slime coat for all fresh water fish, Have not tried it yet.... with water chages do I add salt? or was that just when I had the high nitrites? I have not added any more since the one time a few weeks ago. Also as I said water temp is still cold in the 60's. Can't add the other grow bed till Monday..Anything I else I  can do guys?

Yes, don't feed. Yes squeeze in some partial water changes.  Yes I am glad TC is here!

I have a 560 gal pump to the bed that cycles on 15 off 30 and another 560 pump that is on all the time for air. Did a waer change last nite and again this am, 3 dead fish last nightchange.

Here is my first try ever on sending pictures.

The bad news is whatever is killing the little fish probably won't stop just because you had to go off on a long shift.

The good news, the silvery look with the spots is normal for young fingerlings.  They get darker with age.

did a part water change last nite, one this morning and home for lunch to do another, 4 more dead fish... any more Ideas? and do I still need to add salt...would it help? how about the chorine remover, I have no choice but to use it if I keep changing water, rain water is all gone.

If your nitrite is still high, then I'd salt again but if the nitrite is down to 0 then no need to worry so much about salt and trying to figure amounts of salt to add after doing water changes gets really confusing anyway.
