Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I am brand new at the Aquaponics.  I am doint a stand alone system with at 275 gal IBC tote.  I am cut the top 8" off for my plants and the bottom part for my fish.  This seems to be the best way to start for me.  My question is what size pump would you recommend?  Greatly appreciate anny and all advice.

You could select a pump with excess capacity and then direct some of the flow back to the surface of the fish tank to provide aeration.  If, for example, you want to pump the volume of your tank (275) each hour with 2 feet of head (distance from surface of water to highest pumping point), then select a pump capable of pumping more than that, 500 or so, and direct half the flow back to your tank to spray the surface.  You have lots of choices as to brand.  I can speak only to the pump I've tried thus far, Lifeguard Products, Quiet One.  It has performed well for me to this point.
