Am interested in what is happening in the US in aquaponics and the guys that are doing it. You paint a suitable picture, it tells me a great deal.

3) I read about raising maggots on this forum, I don't raise or feed them to my fish (only two things they "like" not 3).

I am all for sustainable but I don't intend to feed my fish any garbage they may encounter in nature such as seeds and cottonwood blossoms. I feed them a balanced nutritional diet.

I was under the impression that you were either looking for information, or had something of value to add. If your intent is only to troll those that respond to your posts then please don't. If you have anything of value to add we all look forward to it.

I'm not sure I would know what to look for. Can you provide more details about what I should look for? My RFF is pretty good at separating solids. All I have noticed is fish poo, but I have not looked closely. Other food particles I assumed to be uneaten feed from over feeding. Do you have more information on problems with Aquamax? If so, maybe we should start another discussion. So far Aquamax seems effective both for the fish and plants. However, for my tilapia fingerlings I just purchased food from Premium Fish Foods.

George, I have heard of this but I have not taken action. I don't want to get too many things going at once. I barely keep up with my worms. Luckily they get water from my drip irrigation system and have an ample supply of shredded paper and cardboard to feed on, as I rarely provide kitchen scraps. I'm still trying to develop the habit.

David, have you seen black soldier flies?  You should be able to cultivate them.  They're great for disposing of kitchen waste.  They're prevalent in my compost and generally I just toss a shovelful in my chicken yard from time to time but sometimes I harvest them for fish.

Well digested food doesn't leave much in the way of waste and it readily breaks down, with little long term solid waste remaining.  I've considered trying aquamax and just wondered how well it worked in aquaponics.  My system has media beds with no other filtering.  Thanks.
