Research other fish dealers in your area That way you will have a realistic market price to work in to your plan.I own Aquaponic Systems USA in San Antonio, Tx. We sale Tilapia you can only price them at what the market will bare or is at the time you start your business if your using that business plan to get a loan or investors. You can be sure they will check the market price.

I have priced my full grown fish at the price I see in the grocery store.  The only difference is mine are alive.

Bob in a business plan from my experience the people that make the decisions to give grants or loans and even investors care only about the facts on your product. They wont to see the market price on a product in your area that your in and if you sale them alive than that is the price to work off of. This is because your market is on live fish. By "Fish dealer " i mean from others that sale the same product in the same condition. They don't like useless information and it makes you look like you haven't done your research to make your business a success. That's the way they see it. Sorry Bob, I'm not trying to offend you. Your business plan is one of the most important pieces of your business. It tells people that matter everything about you and how you are going to succeed or fail.

I'm not in business to sell fish. I like to help others enjoy gardening and raising fish.  I only charge something for my fish in order to make the new owners feel some responsibility.  It helps me with population control. Not everyone needs a business plan, but it sounds like you know all about it so what are you asking for?  Good luck selling live fish for more than what the grocery store charges for fillets.

Hi Bob, the info was was meant for William Kohut  to keep him on the right track for realistic pricing because his question was about Business Plan. My live pricing is well above market fillets. At $1 an inch you can do the math sometimes reaching $30 a pound you don't always have to have luck, just a good plan. But good luck to you sir.

Sincerely,

Thank you for both for the info and help.

I too price according to what I see in fish markets except mine are alive.  I also give a discount for cash.
