Just curious of anyone else has had the bell siphon disease. where you spend what seems like hours staring at you bell siphon to see if it will kick on or off.  I am sure with time and experience I will be able to whip up a working siphon in seconds as for now its trial and error. But I cant seem to stop the stare. anyone have a idiosyncrasy they like to share

it shouldn't take hours , just one or tow for the first time ...

what i normally do is when the water is near the top i reduce the water flow

to a minimal point , wen it's dripping i increase it by small increments once every 2 minutes or so

until i find the minimal flow it can start siphoning and mark the position of the tap

then i increase the flow to max

and and if it doesn't break after reasonable time reduce the flow every 2 minutes by small increments

until it breaks the flow ... , mark that position of the tap , now all u need to do is put the tap in the middle of the marks ...

I'm not afraid to admit it.  I have the disease!
