So I am getting ready to build my new pond for tilapia and another one for catfish.  The ponds will be 3 ft wide, 2 ft deep, and 6 feet long.  Is that large enough and how many tilapia and catfish can I put in there?

Well, you typically want to shoot for one lb of fish for every 5-10 gallons of water. A 3x3x6 ft. pond gives you a volume of 36 cu. ft, which comes out to around 270 gallons. (1 cu. ft. = 7.48 gallons). So, you can support 30lbs or so of fish.
