Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Hi all,

I am happy to be with you all. I am building an indoor simplified DWC using 55 gallon barrels to start. I hope to find others that have done the same and discover some ways to save money in the building and also learn from you.

Currently, I am starting to build the stands for the grow beds and fish tank. I was going to use wood but wondered if anyone has used PVC to build the stands and how were your results if you did?

PVC is probably not strong enough to hold up full barrels of water.

Hi,

Thank you, I am going for the wood frame that is used in the barrelponics manual. It will allow me to be flexible in the future in case I get wild and crazy and create an ebb and flow system (I don't think I will tho'). The 2x6's and 2x8's are a litttle expensive but it will be worth it in the long run.

ebb and flow is good for filtration
