A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

New Member - Arlington TX

My wife and I are Salvation Army officers in Arlington TX. We have a transitional housing shelter with about 15 families. We are also opening a large youth program in about 8 months. We recently learned about aquaponics and are excited about the possibilities, especially on the education side and the opportunity to serve fresh food in the shelter.

I'll probably be asking a lot of questions in the coming weeks. From what I have already experienced, this community loves sharing which I appreciated. We're headed to Red Oak on Monday to check out a system there. Very excited!

Glad to hear that you are excited. My experience with this forum has gotten me motivated to setup my first system in a spare bedroom of our house. Within 3 months, I've learned everything I needed to know about what to purchase, the water to fish ratios, the grow bed to fish tank ratios, and everything in between. I planted from seeds in my grow bed in mid June and by the end of this month we are going to have our first bit of lettuce from this system.
