I started messing around with tilapia 2006-2010

2010 - the end of july i had to take  my system down

i am currently trying to get a piece of property to set up a scaled system.

basickly i dont have a system that is running

but i want to share my last 4 years with aquaponics

with members.......

update on plants

Well nothing changed…weather …cold windy and lots of rain
The plant look ok and the fish are ok but water 10-14 deg/c 

 

Looking from this side down the tunnel....... 

the plants dont seem to have a problem with so many plants in a small space...plants look ok.

 

this is the first 2 rafts

meant for 5 plants per raft but for now i am planting full extra 5 plants per raft

20 plants in the 2 rafts

 

 the second two rafts with lettuce and cellery 10+10

 the 3rd set of rafts..i have started picking the lettuce's...

 the fourth set of rafts i left to grow.... cellery and lettuces

Swiss chard in set 5 rafts

10+10 plants ....i cut back yesterday

 the last down the tunnel...set 6 of the rafts..cellery

The signs of nutrient deficiency are there in some plants but...
I don’t want to add anything else to the system except what I am adding now…

Plant choice is vital for the way you want to manage your system.
All the time and testing I did and do was/is to come across the right plants for the way I manage this system. Something/……. Must grow good and there must be an opening in the market for what I want to grow.
Celery is one of these plants and it grows well year round?????

Coming back to this system.....

No breakdowns, no pipes blocked, no cleaning of tank, no cleaning of bio filter....only feeding fish and looking after plants.

Nothing added now for a 3 Months

I spray the plants with brewed worm tea and that is that.

Like I have mentioned my electrical usage per month is less than buying a packet of smokes. Water +-300 litres per month….only top up +-3 times per month….
