I'm interested in finding out if there are any international breeders that have specialised in stock improvement of mozambique tilapia.  With our environmental laws stalling permits for hybrids or Nile tilapia, I want to take another look at improved mozambique tilapia.  I have some fantastic fish out of the batch I bought, but the majority were slow growers.  I would like to build on the stocks I have if I can get an import permit.

I believe Mozambique tilapia are the ones allowed for people in Texas so you might see if there are any members in TX doing tilapia and see if they are doing much selective breeding.  Here is Florida we are stuck with the Blues since that is what escaped from aquaculture here back in the 1970's.

I dunno if this helps but this guy has orange Mossambicus. He also has a hybrid line.

It may help - I'll look into it.  The colour morphs are just phenotypes of the standard genetics, thus, if they were selectively bred from pure mozambique tilapia stock, I should, in theory, be allowed to bring them back here for my own use just as I'm allowed to buy from a breeder in South Africa
