Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Hello all!

I have several 55 gallon barrels that I can work with to get my garden started. I had ordered a aquaponic gardening book on Amazon, but it hasn't been shipped to me yet...

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on using barrels?

I would really appreciate any and all feedback.

Thank you!

You can download The Barrel-Ponics Manual by Travis W. Hughey for free Barrel-ponics Manual

Now if you don't want to build lots of cradles to support the barrels, you can cut them around the middle instead of the long way.  By doing that you can have deeper beds to provide more filtration in a smaller footprint but you loose a little plant growing surface area.  Barrels cut the long way provide more top surface area but may be a bit trickier to get siphons to balance in and require cradles for support.

Great thoughts- thank you!

Amother book is Aquaponic Food Production by Rebecca Nelson. Great book with a lot of information.
