John, I just recently started using well water in my pond. My thought is that these fish (Tilapia) exist in the wild so why are we so concerned about it. My fish are thriving, enough so that I am adding two new ponds to the system.

One problem with this that the water is brown in color, but my ponds are not that deep so I am sure I will be able to see the fish.I hope to have pictures soon.

I found the answer in a lengthy pdf (http://mic.sgmjournals.org/content/8/1/58.full.pdf ). Apparently the iron actually enhances the process.
