Intro From Texas

I figured I should introduce my self .

First off I'm Texan ! I am just out of Austin .

I was a custom car builder for the last 20 years and due to multiple factors I opted to close the doors ,20 years is a long time to do anything . So I figured with nothing better to do I started studying aquaponics and aquaculture

They call me Hotrodmike and I sure a few of you know me from D.I.Y and Practical AP .

I have been doing organic gardening for many years and have been playing with AP for about 1-2 years . My first system was a 1500 gallon with about 100 sq ft of grow bed in a 12x24 greenhouse I built about 8 years ago . It's now gotten too small and I am working on bringing the greenhouse up to about 1500' .

I would have gone 2000 but don't think I can stretch the money that far . First I have to come up with the best layout for size and finish clearing trees . Currently that system is running catfish which are getting close to harvesting .

The second system is really my breeding tank for the Tilapia but as that one can have a fairly good stocking load I put a 25 sq ft media bed and it's 180 gallon with a 110 gallon sump and that one has about 100 3-4" Tilapia . Most of these will go into the 1500 gallon system after the cat's are gone .This system is sitting in my office

I would post pic's but will need to figure that one out and I am not sure if a link to another AP site is verbotten ! I will eventually figure it out . I just hate to flood the system with pic's as there are building of the system ,harvesting off the system (multiple times ) and the second system . Not sure how much detail anyone wants . So I may have to dig back on the HD to find them all

The image tab on here gives you both options, you can use photos already on the internet or you can upload them from your computer. It is the 2nd tab from the left on top of the message box. If you upload them as files from the upload files link below the message box then everyone has to click on them to see the file.
