I see a lot of people using some pretty high intensity lighting systems. In speaking with a few scientist recently I realized that a lot of the benefit of some of these light sources is the heat generated for the plant.

Has anyone tried using infrared light sources to reduce energy but to make plants feel that they are warm and in perfect conditions to grow?

If so, what wavelength of light are you using?

I think for most people (with indoor systems) getting rid of the heat from high-intensity lights is the main problem... getting enough light on the plant without "cooking" it to death; and without overheating the water by getting the room too hot?
