Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Anybody have a location to purchase monitors that I can use for online (web) access.  I want to monitor my system when I am on travel.  Someone had a system on youtube but he did not give any suggestions on the hardware it would take.  I am looking to monitor PH, PPM, Nitrite levels, etc.

Since my system is outside, I made a monitoring system using an Arduino with a WiFi shield. The system reports back through my home WiFi router to a web server which then stores the data for displaying and sends out automated alerts via email. I am currently measuring air and tank temperature, humidity, light, tank water level, grow bed up & down, ebb and flow system up & down, and my pond feeder feedings. I could have set it up to measure pH and ORP, but the sensors were expensive and I was looking more at detecting gross failures. The common alerts I get are on low water level and when pump failures.

I built the system over a year ago, but I found some items and put them in this drop box folder. Here is a link to it - DropBox folder. If you want a free drop box account, I'd love the referral--I get extra free space (free dropbox).

In this folder I have placed the photos from above as well as diagrams, schematics, and links to interesting articles and of course, the Arduino code.

For the server side of this project, I am sending the data from the Arduino using http GET calls to a web based CGI that stores the data in a data base which I'm displaying using a free web based javascript plotting software (jqPlot).

I recently came across a presentation from the 2012 Aquaponics Association Conference that I didn't fully read, but in glancing at it, it should give you more to work off of. PDF Paper

If you or anyone else have more questions, please feel free to email me.

Thank you!!  I'll check it out  will probably have some Q's later on
