if you have siphons, you should let the system run 24/7 to cycle up quicker.

If you don't have siphons and are just doing timed flood and drain, you might still let it run 24/7 to let the system cycle quicker or just set your off times to 45 minutes and the on times long enough to fill the gaps.

what is the well water's pH after it has outgassed the trapped CO2? When water comes out of the ground or pipes it will have a false low pH reading.

My water comes from an artesian well. In fact it is the well that Lewis and Clark drank from when they made their trip to the Pacific Ocean. The water is hard, which I knew because we have a pool and every year I have to deal with high PH. I have purchased some liquid seaweed that I am adding to the tank to feed the plants, until my nitrates improve. It has a PH of 6.8 which should help over the next couple of weeks as I add it in. Also I have added a timer so that the system isn't on 24/7.…

A high pH is pretty common for a new system especially if the source water is hard.

Patience and letting the bio-filter mature will help. Strawberrys are not easy in a brand new system especially if you have liquid limestone coming out of your water taps.

Tags didnt work so well. Here is my first aquaponic garden in my sunroom. I have had it up and running about 2-3 weeks. I am now in the troubleshooting phase that everyone must go through ,for sure. The Chemistry of the system becomes very important and I am working through it. I just found out that a ph of 8.2 is why my plants are not growing larger. Also the strawberries on the verticals are dying. . I have added a third grow bed and hope to have it going today. Pretty fun Hobby…
