Thanks Harold....looks like an interesting article. What an amazing little plant....food 'and' fuel.... I'll have to read it all, when I get a chance.

Algae is definitely going to play a big role here in the future.  There are still challenges in figuring out the most efficient ways for people to make use of it at home but I expect algae will definitely replace soy as the "be anything" food additive eventually.
If we are truly at peak oil then I expect oil to double in the coming years if not triple. That will make farming as we know it today too expensive to continue. It's amazing how the world is at peak everything at the same time.

Hi Chris,

Well said! Alternative agriculture(AP) is already imperative worldwide and a necessity for sure but it looks like we haven't had that morning cup of coffee as yet. Seems we're traditional in the sense that we only move when driven by crisis!

It is not just the oil, but cost of water and fertilizer too.  Crop production is going to get tough, farmers are going to turn to fancy irrigations systems to conserve water (at around $180 000 per system I have read somewhere) and pass the price increase on to the consumer.  In South Africa, meat prices are rocketing as people abandon farming, and fruit and veg prices is getting to the point that most people are fed up.

Still, we battle to get grants for our projects........................
