I have a Chop 3 System that smells like urine and I was wondering if that is normal,,The only thing in relation to urine is I added 3 gallons of Worm Castings ..to a 400 gallon system.
Will that cause a urine Smell? and will it go away?
Water test show normal
thank you,

do you have fish in the system? have you tested the water? what are your parameters? sounds like you added way to much..
I guess that would depend on how you made your worm tea...maybe it went anaerobic before you added it to your system? How long has it been smelling bad?

You might have an anaerobic zone in your growbed (if you're using media). Or look around, maybe you've got a dead fish or something. Do a water test, if you've got excess waste levels, that could help pinpoint the problem.

The only time I encountered this type of problem, was a pre-cursor to losing a lot of fish. Even though I have 5 horizontal grow beds, the vast majority of my filtration is through my 12 vertical towers. I had over fed my fish, which in turn produced huge fish waste. The fish waste clogged my water lines to the vertical towers. It took about two days but the whole system went anarobic. I ended up doing a 50% water change, after clearing the clogged lines--but the system was wacky. I used Nightout II, in the system, followed by photosynthis plus and nourish L, and within a week all numbers returned to normal. Smelling urine is bad. Just food for thought... I'm a huge subscriber to worm tea in my hydroponics systems, but for my aquaponics system I have red wigglers in all of my grow beds and they seem to add sufficient worm tea while doing their normal job.
I've read of CHOP2; what's a CHOP3?
