i have a 500 gallon tank that is being gravity fed into my filtration buckets and then to my sump where half of that is sent to my grow bed and half back to he tank so my problem is my tank not draining into the filtration fast enough, so is there a way to increase the flow without having to cut my tank again? Any help here would be great

P.S. this is all using 1inch pvc plumbing

Hi orry,

I'm afraid there is not enough information in the description you gave. If possible can you post some pictures?

still needs a bit of fine tuning and if you need better pics of the pipe layout i can take and upload them tomorrow

From what I can discern from your photo, the easiest thing to get more water flow is to elevate your tank. You can use cinder blocks. Of course you will need to have a pump capable of pumping water that high.

Hi Orry,

Some larger pictures with an explanation of each picture would be ideal. I won't like to comment before I can properly understand your system

Bigger pipes, fewer fittings, or more height difference are about all you have to work with... although it might be easier to just add a second pipe alongside the first one?

problem found and solved i had a curious fish get sucked into my intake and clog the pipe. Without the bloated corpse in the plumbing it flows just fine. I have put a cover over the intake pipe and things roll smooth. Thank everyone for their helpful advice.

P.S. i will have pictures with explanations posted soon any advice or warnings will be welcome

Hi orry,

So it was the old bloated fish in the drain pipe trick! You can place a mesh over the pipe to avoid this happening again. Good luck!
