Does anyone know how to start duckweed production? I know that it grows in stagnant water, so are mosquitoes a problem? One last thing, can your fish live on a diet of only duckweed?

mosquitoes are good fish food too not sure the best way to get rid of the mosquitoe other then with a net

Found this at: http://www.mytilapia.com/Tilapia_Feed.aspx

Tilapia exhibit their best growth rates when they are fed a balanced diet that provides a proper mix of protein, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, mineral and fiber.

So I guess to answer your questions yeah they will live on it but for how long is the real question.

Dr. Rakocy did experiments with a all duckweed diet and saw his fish lose weight during the trial.
