County Co-Op

I just recieved an email ....Someone has started a county wide co-op for differant farmers within my county.

Strength and ideas abound in numbers.....  :-)

Hopefully other's may be encouraged to try the same idea.

 

Here's part of the email..........

 

some of you are new to this email list of county growers.  my name is .............and if you are new, i got your name from ...........at the county ag extension.  she and i are working together to get a complete list of all the people in our county who are, or could be, or want to be, food producers.

there are not many of us....this county for some reason...does not produce many vegetables, meat, or dairy items.  we want to change that.  and because you are on this email list, i'm assuming that you are involved in some way with food production.   if you do not live in this county, please disregard this email.  you will remain on our mailout list for future possible sales, but this is targeting the growers in this county only.

have you heard of O-C Grown?  we introduced this name at our "farm to fork" dinner we held in May.  this dinner comprised a menu of items that were grown within our county...it was held at a farm on a beautiful night with lots of positive energy coming from the group.  we capped the attendence at 65 people...producers, consumers, govt. officials were in attendence.  the night was a start at tasting what this county can grow for consumers.

we realize the myriad of problems that confront larger production within our county lines.  if we each try to tackle this alone, it can be overwhelming.  that's why we would like to organize the producers into a co-op called O-C Grown (Osceola County Grown).  by doing this, we can work together as a united front in moving our effort/passion forward in getting local production within our county.
