Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Has anyone had luck or experience with using Red/Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina heteropoda) as algae control in their fish tanks? I picked up 10 of them this weekend to see how they would work in my greenhouse system, which got pretty thick with algae over the summer.

I have a few hundred of them in various systems in my home from aquariums to aquaponics and they are GREAT.  The biggest issues people have is infertility due to lack of genetic diversity over time and from not maintaining alkalinity and calcium. if you maintain those you will quickly have far more than you can imagine :) Best of luck if you have any questions if be more than happy to help.

Thanks Steve!
