Bottle seals

Unbelievable....Been trying to get my PH down slowly this week by adding PH down. After adding almost a cup over the last few days and no change, something seemed wrong. I tested the liquid right out of the bottle and low and behold, or should I say high and behold, the ph of this stuff was 7.8. I cant remember if it had that little styrofoam or foil bottle seal on the opening when I got it but I dont think so. You can bet I'll be looking from now on. It sure seems that someone had returned it with something other than PH down in it to get a refund and it was put back on the shelf. Gonna try and get it exchanged with my test kit in hand. I wonder what I've been pouring into my fish tank.......

You might want to test something else with your test kit just to make sure it isn't the test kit that is faulty.  I once really crashed a hydroponic system when my pH meter quit working.  I kept adding the pH down and the meter kept saying 7.

Finally I pulled out the old litmus strips and checked the nutrient was down around 4 by that time.

Wow that sucks. Have you tried using Indian Almond Leaves ?

Right now I'm using a Mars liquid test kit. I get different readings in the hydroponic system so I'm fairly certain that the kit is okay. This ph down has no smell whatsoever. If anybody has a bottle of Technaflora PH down in their possesion, maybe you can tell me if there is a smell to it.  Thx

Thats just a bad decision on the clerks part to take it back. If I originally bought it wouldnt expect to be able to return it after I purchased it. Probably just have to chalk this one up as a loss.....#@*!

End of the mystery....As it turns out, the folks over at the hydroponics store stand behind what they sell and gave me a new bottle of ph down (same brand). Just as I thought this new bottle tested the way it is supposed to. Got a bad bottle after all somehow......Thanks David!!!!
