So, I see how great the Bell Siphon is and people have advanced the design to be very reliable.

But, it seems to do the same thing as a toilet tank plug which could be attached to a float for triggering. Is there a reason this would not work?

Is the Bell Siphon more reliable? Do you see any advantages to the toilet plug on a float?

Hi Sean

The Bell Siphon is reliable, cheap, can be made by any one with limitted tools,  do not take up a lot of real estate in the grow bed and is easy to maintain.

Unfortunately I do not have comparable data/experience with a float triggered toilet plug system in aquaponics - but any moving parts usually means more maintenance.  If you've got a design to share for evaluation - appreciate.

Regards,
