I'm growing Bush Beans from Park Seed and they are doing fantastic in the aquaponic system. I've already had 2 harvests and the beans are huge!

That's it rub it in ...lol

LOL. Didn't mean to rub my beans in your face! I usually can't get anything to grow. I tried zucchini this year (in dirt) and got one fruit off it before it got ate up by bugs. So I'm super happy about my beans cause my family loves them.

BTW. Since my first plant did so well (which was a transplant) I decided to try planting 2 seeds directly into the gravel media and they both sprouted and I've already harvested a bean off of one. Pretty incredible really. For me anyways.

Hope you find bean success!

I had nice big plants .really looked good . and not one flower no beans . so I replanted a new bunch . what type of media  are you using ?   thank's for the reply ...Hook

I'm using gravel in my grow bed. My melon plant grew like crazy and even flowered but never got any melons so I took it out. I'm still new to aquaponics so I'm learning as I go. It's got to be some nutrient that makes the plants fruit. Or the pH. Mine's at about 8.0 right now. Seems high but the fish seem to be doing fine and my plants are thriving. Wish I could be of more help but I"m just winging it.

Try some of the bean seeds from Park Seed. Could be you just got a bad batch or variety.

Tami, thank you for the reply I too am new to this aquaponics I guess we will learn as we go .I will check out Parks seed Co. again thank you ..Ron

to much nitrogen will give you great leaves but no flowers

Sally, thanks' for the reply .I replanted new seeds .to see what go's. I don't have anything to check nitrogen ..Ron

Worst spring/summer ever here for beans, three different varieties - lots of blooms, few beans.  Fall may better, we'll see.  Once you find varieties you like, you can save seeds.

looks interesting.  thanks

I'm growing blue bush beans in my system and having an ok harvest from them.  My system is small and indoors, set up in a bay window facing south.  But my beans outside in raised beds are having a wonderful crop.  My beans are from Burpee, but I'm picking up a couple more varieties to try from Rare Seed.

I tried Rattlesnake, a pole bean, this fall and it is a sure enough winner.  Will try it again next spring.

Fall Bean - generally NT Half Runners are fantastic - not so much this year.
