Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

We are in the process of developing control of our current indoor and future outdoor hydro and aquaponics systems. Our current indoor system runs in MS-DOS and an old, obsolete lab interface. We are looking for a couple of people who have Arduino MEGA coding experience to join our "makers" group.  Please check out our video at http://youtu.be/pLDTFedtqp0 for an overview of our project, where we are now, and where we're going.

I have a mega running with all kinds of things. Nine relays, temp, humidity, water temp, two flow switches, an led display and a light meter. I have the code for ethernet and a real time clock also, but they are disabled because of an accidental exposure to water lol. I am am covered up at the moment with construction of a commercial system but will gladly share the code and help out. I will be putting my system online soon and be back to choosing in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Rex. I'm sure it will help us.  Our current MSDOS based system also uses sunrise-sunset calculations which we also want to include in our Arduino-based system.  Thinking if using the TimeLord library much like Roger Reed used in his chicken coop file.  See

Thanks Rex.  We'd love to look at your code when you get a chance. It sounds as if you have included many of the monitoring and controls that we'd like to use, so your code may save us significant time.  Did you intend to use your realtime clock for sunrise-sunset lamp switching? Was your RTC a 1307?

Rex: Sorry it has taken this long to reply. Can you send us your source code?   Thanks in advance..

I was debating between an arduino with an android app to keep track of crops or trying an all in one with a raspberry pi. The price of a pi want much more than the arduino uno so I went with the pi, waiting for delivery.

Can't wait to get it set up for temp control and monitoring
