Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

Yesterday, the Homesteading/Survivalism Facebook page posted an old illustration about aquaponics using a Growing Power model - the source of the illustration was this Denver Post article from about 3 years ago http://www.denverpost.com/ci_13586527. So far, in under 24 hours, the illustration has over 5,000 likes and nearly 4,400 shares. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150968161042436&set=a....

I've attempted to send people who read the comments there here if they have questions about aquaponics, so there may be an influx of n00bs.

Too bad that picture showed a 60' by 5' by 13 foot deep fish tank. I don't think the average person can grasp the scalability of something like aquaponics

I agree, Jeremy. Several people have been trying to educate people about that in the comment section. A picture is worth 1000 words, but aquaponics can't be summed up in a single image. Hopefully the owners of the FB page will now do a followup post or two given the amount of response that post has gotten.

That is what brought me to this site.  I have been researching and planing my own aquaponics set up for the last 4 days LOL.

Driving my wife crazy since that is just about all I talk about.

I think the Denver Post article is what got me interested in aquaponics. I am still a newbie but learning.

Check out Apex Aquaponics. This system has a feature others don't . It's emulates the UVI method , S-RAC 454... Wow , it's production, production, production, ! They have these systems in Texas jails teaching the prisoners how to grow Food of the Future..,,,,Today ! The food was recently tested by the USDA in their laboratory , and the results was 100% chemical free, the highest quality they have ever tested.. Check out GlobalAquaponics.net for more info...,,, wow! Also on Facebook too!
A Aquaponics system that's has a media in the beds traps solids and has to be drained in order to clean it.....where the Apex System has no" media and allows you to drain off the fish waste which is the best natural fertilizer in the world..,,, the real secret is clean fish practices that makes this machine run like a race horse! Apex Aquaponics is on the right path.... Check it out and see for yourself....... Conesiuers Food for sure!
