I have a 500 gallon 4 1/2 foot tall fiberglass tank with a pond liner inside and i was wondering what materials(available near LA) I would need to insulate it.

I was wondering if you have thought about sheet insulation which can be found at Lowes or Home Depot or any building materials place.  It can be cut like any foam board. and has different r ratings depending on thickness.

Thank you i picked some up after i saw this and it works every where but my round tank. Do you know of any non rigid eco friendly insulation?

PS where i have put the sheets they work very well thank you so much

The same stuff might work in the round if you use strapping to hold it together and cut strips like in a wood barrel, otherwise you might have to build a round cage with chicken wire or something and use regular insulation. (a tad messy when wet).

Bubble wrap. You can buy it in bulk at an office supply store, or you might even be able to get it free from a furniture store, business, etc..
