Hi I have a 700 gallon system that has been slowly cycled with fish and plants for the past 4 months. The system is light on fish, I could handle more but can't just add more bc I am raising trout. I am on city water but the water here is very hard, so a low pH has caught my attention.
My pH is low, 6.0 with no sign of green, so it could be even lower. The fish and plants all look fine. This morning I noticed a bit of white foam on the surface of the water and wonder if this could have…

Ammonia levels are fine, nitrates are a bit high, I need to incorporate another grow bed and more plants.
Any ideas why pH would be so low in this situation. White Translucent Cucumber Leavestag:aquaponicgardening.ning.com,2013-08-17:4778851:Topic:5057062013-08-17T12:32:06.090ZAlex Veidelhttps://aquaponicgardening.ning.com/profile/AlexVeidel

Well, this cucumber seems to be on its way out. Which is okay, I guess; it's been trying to run away for the last month or so :) I got some baking soda spray on the leaves when I was trying to get rid of mildew and it didn't seem to like that, unless something else is going on...

What do you guys think this is? It looks as if the leaves are disintegrating in some spots on the plant.…

My system has been up and running for a couple months and recently I started noticing a white powder residue substance on some of my Hydroton (you can see it on the attached picture). It is a indoor system and under a 600 watt LED. My first thought was mildew but I have none growing on any of my plants. I read somewhere that it might also be efflorescence caused by salts and minerals during evaporation? Any thoughts or experiences with this???

I am about to buy all the materials for my system including an IBC tote, but was wondering if any one has experience with the 1/2 ton macro bins. Do they hold water well? are they strong enough to last awhile without cracking? any information would be good, Thanks!
