Dear Friends,

I got my system (Aqua Abundance, 2 media and 1 DWC, with a 500 gallon fish tank) eight months ago. I believe it is fully cycled because the ammonia is a 0.5 ppm, the nitrite is at 0.0 and the nitrate is over 160 ppm. I add a tablespoon of iron every month or two and I add a tablespoon of micronutrients at about the same rate. The pH has stabilized at 7.4 according to a gauge I bought and calibrated to a known pH level of 4.0. The test chemicals I got from The Aquaponics…

I add a tablespoon of iron every month or two and I add a tablespoon of micronutrients at about the same rate. The pH has stabilized at 7.4 according to a gauge I bought and calibrated to a known pH level of 4.0. The test chemicals I got from The Aquaponics Source shows the pH to be stable at 6.8. Everything was going fine until I closed up my 24 foot diameter geodesic dome because of cold temperatures. I am in the process of buying a CO2 meter but I think I may have a problem. The leaves are yellow, dry, and withered. I don't see any aphids and I have looked closely and I know what they look like from other outdoor plants last summer.

I have attached some pictures below.

I am looking for hints as to the cause and possible cures for my problem.

Thanks for your help.

This is my first post. The tips of my lettuce, and other greens start getting dry and crispy, and the illness is working its way down, leaving dry crisp leaves. They were doing so well before. Please someone tell me what to do about my beautiful lettuce all going crispy. Could it be the ppm is too high? What can I do? I just added the two ebb and flows to share the nutrients with more plants, hoping that would help. Or could it be that I need to add aerators to the lettuce trays?
something wierd happened?tag:aquaponicgardening.ning.com,2012-05-27:4778851:Topic:3421432012-05-27T18:01:01.731ZM Waialeale Sarsonahttps://aquaponicgardening.ning.com/profile/MWaialealeSarsona
Hi everyone-
About 8 weeks ago, all of our plans started to die. the leaves started dying and drying out. There was no impact to the fish, in fact my husband thought they were growing faster. So we lost most of our lettuce, watercrest, beans and strawberries. We removed all of these plants, replaced them with new ones and everything seems to be back to normal. Does anyone know what would have caused this? I was bummed to have lost all of those plants, I dont understand why it happened.
I wondered if we overcrowded the grow bed? or could it have been from a neighbor's pesticide spray that got on our plants? Just trying to figure out how to prevent this from happening again.
