The system has 50 Tilapia and we are successfully growing some leafy vegetables. However, our intent is to grow Tomato's. The plants got really big but didn't produce any fruit. We decided to prune the plants and start from scratch as they began to take over the entire bed. They are now pruned and under control, seem do be doing well. With our new pruning method and extra growing space we hope to have tomato's shortly.

Until then, we have lettuce, carrots and radishes to enjoy.

I've attached a few pictures of the system, the one with the empty bed is the newest addition that we'll be planting today.

Oh yeah, they are both flood and drain systems that use a bell siphon.

I'm also building a smaller system that is being designed to be a little better looking and actually sit in our living room. My hope is to have it built and operating by the end of the week.
Timer on a NFT system?tag:aquaponicgardening.ning.com,2011-10-28:4778851:Topic:2393292011-10-28T07:08:50.469ZSaeid Mick Momtahanhttps://aquaponicgardening.ning.com/profile/SaeidMickMomtahan

Hi everyone. I finished my Aquaponic system about 10 days ago and would like to get your opinion on whether I should put the pump on a timer or shall I have it running 24/7 as I have been?

I've loaded a video on Youtube and here's the link. I hope this is not against the forum guidelines. If it is please some one let me know and I'll remove the link.

Hi everyone. I would like to know if any one has experimented with adding iron the the Aquaponic system 'naturally'? I mean with out stuff coming out of a plastic bottle. Where we are, getting iron supplements for an Aquaponic system is pretty tricky. It's either not avaiable or very expensive.

Would adding chopped up Spinach to the fish feed work if they eat it? Is that a crazy idea?I know Tilapia eat some veggies.

There have been numerous posts shared on "Rooftop Gardens"...some on the "Vertical Gardening" group. This is a growing field and one that we should be looking into...especially Urban Dwellers. I am fortunate to have probably the best show case examples (although these are not really financially viable for your average "Joe" like me), at my backdoor...at Disney Epcot Center and one in Winter Garden..."Green Sky Growers"…
