There are 12 channel cats in the system that need a home (I have had them for 2+ years with no problems with disease - four of them are albinos). Someone please give my catfish a home! I really don't want to have to euthanize them!

I have invested close to $2500 in this system. Asking $500. I need this to move in the next couple of weeks. I will be dismantling the system no matter what after the 20th of March. I am located in Fairfield.

Improved version of "tray-ponics" system designed by Glenn Martinez of Olomana Gardens in Hawaii. Biofilter and bell siphon construction are the best I've ever made or seen, frankly. Biofilter, external bell siphon, and raft trays are supported horizontally by heavy-duty steel struts and vertically by 4x4 lumber and pier blocks. System fits into a 10' x 12' greenhouse, maximizing use of that amount of space.

Materials cost was about $1100. About 3/4 of that cost is in the high-quality polycarbonate sheeting. It's pricy, but it's much more durable, insulating, and visually pleasing than poly film.

This greenhouse is the same size as one you can buy from Harbor Freight for $700. As you can read on the web though, the Harbor Freight model has a relatively weak frame and there are reports of sheathing panels blowing off in high winds. As such, people have devised additional measures to strengthen the Harbor Freight model themselves at additional cost. My greenhouse has withstood strong storms with no problems.

Also note that Harbor Freight's polycarbonate sheathing is very thin - about half the thickness of the standard greenhouse sheathing I used. The thicker stuff provides better insulation.

To keep materials costs down, I used reflective bubble insulation on the lower half of the greenhouse, below the level of the planting tables, where sunlight is not needed.

This greenhouse is small enough that you can remove all the covering in summer for maximum air circulation. I typically grow tomatoes up the sides and over the frame of the roof in summer, shading the aquaponics system nicely. See picture below.

I'm selling this greenhouse now because I have moved on to a much bigger project at another location and do not have time to maintain operations at both sites.

Asking $550, which represents half of the original materials cost (and none of the design or build time).

I'd be happy to assist with disassembly and loading.

I'll be selling the aquaponics system that fits in this greenhouse too,. as soon as I can put together pricing - stay tuned.

Paul
916-533-5268 voice/cell
joezbro@gmail.com

Hi all,

I want to build my system. I don't have problem finding woods or PVCs. My problem is finding the valves that can fit into the holes that I am going to drill on the fish tank, on the grow beds, or on my buckets. I talked to Home Depot, Lowes, HD Supply employees. I couldn't get anything out. How do you build those connections?

I hate spending a lot per pound for small quantities of fish food, so I went ahead and bought a 50# bag of finglerling food (Aquamax 300, 50% protein) recently. Don't need all that, so am willing to share it with others locally at cost: $7* will get you 5#. (That's a little under cost, actually). Let me know and we'll make arrangements.
