Hey folks - growing red, black, golden and mottled (koilapia) tilapia here. They love warm water!

Water temperature in tanks can reach lows around 70f in the early mornings here in winter. I would like to encourage spawning in my quarantined fish (3 females/ 1 male). Should I be putting a heater on that tank? They just want to go dormant this time of year. I want them to think it is time to spawn year round!

We have received a small grant to build an app for aquaponic education. We recognize the gaps and potential hodgepodge of information on Udemy and what is offered online may be cost or time prohibitive. We aim to close the gap between online accessibility and in-person instruction.

We have already been asked to integrate with farm ops apps but we would like to hear from the community about their needs and desires. What do YOU want on an app??

Hi All,

I am a novice in the field of aquaponics. The owners of a local aquaponics were kind enough to allow me to volunteer and learn the ropes. One problem they're having is too much Magnesium, such that it burns the roots.

They asked me to research if there is a way to measure magnesium. Right now, they're using electrical conductivity, but that is just a general measure of nutrient salt concentrations. Is there a recommended water quality kit that tests for Mg?

Thanks,

Josh

I started some broccoli from seed in small soil pots about 2 months ago. Once the plants were about 2 inches tall I transplanted them to my grow bed. The plants have grown so tall that they tipped over. I was expecting a shorter plant that would form flowers by now. Is there something that I need to do to trigger flower formation?

Bare Roots Produce has an opening for a greenhouse manager to oversee the operation, a staff of 5-7, keep up our GAP compliance and organic certification. Current production is 2000 heads of butterhead lettuce a day 5 days a week. There is no responsibility for fish as the sturgeon farm is operated separately. Please look for the position on indeed.com
Thanks,
