March 14 – 18, 2011 are the dates set for the next International Aquaponics and Tilapia Aquaculture Course conducted by the University of the Virgin Islands. This is a 5-day class, Monday through Friday, which includes classroom lectures and hands-on field activities to familiarize participants with the principles and practices of the UVI Aquaponic System and the Biofloc System. Jim Rakocy will come out of retirement to teach for this week and add his knowledge and insights to the course materials and discussion.

There is a Facebook group, UVI Aquaponics, that you can join to discuss specifics of the UVI system. A Facebook event, International Aquaponics and Tilapia Aquaculture Course, has been established for participants to introduce themselves and begin networking. Joining the group and the event do not preclude registration and payment of the deposit.
