SUMMARY:Aquaponics Webinar - Jesse Hull of Sweet Water Organics
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the second Aquaponics Webinar by the Institute
of Ecolonomics. This time the focus is on SweetWater Organics - a ver
y exciting organization indeed. From their website...\n\n\"Located in
Bayview, Milwaukee, WI, Sweet Water Organics is the first major commer
cial upgrading of MacArthur genius Will Allen’s aquaculture methodol
 ogies, i.e. a three-tiered, aquaponic, bio-intensive fish-vegetable ga
rden. Sweet Water is the anchor project in the transformation of a mas
sive industrial building in an “industrial slum” into a show-case
of the potential of living technologies and high-value added urban agr
iculture. Sweet Water’s sustainable aquaculture system harvests urba
n waste streams, e.g. wood chips, cardboard, veggie residues, coffee g
rounds, and brewers mash, along vermiculture lines, yielding the riche
st possible soil. This soil in hundreds of potted plants on the simula
ted wetland tiers is key to the transformation of fish wastes into nat
ural nitrate for plant growth and water filtration. The fish nourish t
he plants. The plants clean the water, and, in the case of tilapia, fe
ed the fish!\nSweet Water hopes to derive income from the sale of: fis
h; micro greens and cereal grains, including wheat grass; worms; worm
castings; and compost. Other income streams will include tours, events
, training, and installation of aquaculture systems.\nWe hope to inspi
re non-profit “guild schools,” which will bring together urban art
ists, artisans, and agrarians to advance knowledge from each field in
support of the good food (r)evolution.\"\n\nJust sign up using the lin
k below. (The posted time is MST)\n\nFor more information visit https:
