Event Description

Do you have the Aquaponic bug, want to jump right in, but don’t know where to start? This is the course for you. Come to our facility in Longmont CO for a full Aquaponic Immersion weekend. During this course you will learn the what, the how and the why of aquaponics, plus participate in extensive hands-on sessions to build your understanding and skills.

I've watched dozens of videos on how to put together an aquaponics system, and it never "clicked” until now. Being here, watching a system go together in front of my eyes, made all the difference in the world. I can absolutely go home and do this now. I can’t wait! In these sessions you will learn how to build your own three-bed aquaponic system - using either IBC totes or specially made grow beds. We aim to minimize the time in class and maximize the time spent with demonstrating and learning through doing. You will walk away with new knowledge, practice and understanding, an aquaponics T-shirt as well as our comprehensive course materials and ongoing support.

Day 1 – Systems (“hardware”) focus

Morning – classroom with Sylvia Bernstein
- 8:00 – 8:30 Group Introductions
- 8:30 – 1:00
  - Introduction to Aquaponics.
  - Hardware
- 1:00 – 2:00 – Lunch (included)
Afternoon – hands on with Robbie the Plumber and Matt the AquaEngineer
- 2:00 – 4:00 Hands on training in all aspects of system design and assembly
5:00 – Class dinner at Oskar Blues Brewery (optional, not included in the course price)

Day 2 – Living elements (“software”) focus

Morning – classroom with Sylvia Bernstein
- 8:00 – 8:30 Questions and Review
- 8:30 – 12:30 Aquaponic Gardening Living Elements
- 12:30 – 1:30 – Lunch (included)
Afternoon – hands on with Sylvia and Joanne the Plant Lady
- 1:30 – 3:00 – Hands on training in all aspects of starting (cycling), planting and maintaining your aquaponics garden
