I always thought the FT was suppose to be the highest point in the system.

does the fishtank always have to be lower than the garden beds?

Arlene, BTW, Jim Troyer would be a great resource for u as far as help converting your pool.  I'm sure he'll chime in!

'Arlene, welcome to the group! there are lots of resources out there on natural pools.  i have collected a long word document on different resource. I'd be glad to email you the word doc.  feel free to email me a kimromen @ yahoo.  I'm intrigued in the yard makeover.  We are possibly less than a mth away to some major yard changes and have it almost figured out, but trying to fine tune things or see if there is a good enough idea out there to totally change our plans.  so far plans are extending the AP system by at least 6 xs the current size, putting in a pool cuz the kids are at that age and I know we'll use it (I know the opposite of what many are doing-we struggled with this one for yrs), where to put the compost pile: with the chickens or/and in another area, black soldier flies, expanding the chicken coop so they will be locked up more of the day (tired of poop all over the patio) with an included shed, maybe some garden beds or wicking beds, quail.  where to and what to do with the pond for the AP system-that's the most complicated of all to me as we want it to be child safe.  we r going to plant moringa, banana, and other fruit trees and turn our grass into a stay-green-all year ground covering instead of bermuda.

anyone else have tips, feedback, or a great yard and system that they're willing to show within the next few weeks, we'll be making our decisions for the backyard, it seems, before the AP tour.  thx!

I just watched a number of videos on the bio filters. I really, really want to convert my diving pool into a pond. Has anyone here done, or know of someone who has, done this? My pool is an old Master Pool, from 1982, 25,000 gallons. I would like to 'go natural' if I could. any ideas? suggestions? warnings? encouragement?

bought another 75 gallon rubbermaid stock tank today. going to try to get my split barrels set up tomorrow and begin another system. Hope to see some others systems if we have a tour.

What a windy day today. Checked the ammonia, and it is 0. that is great. Guess I've finally quit killing fish. In about a month I should be ready to try my hand at some fry. I have so enjoyed reading everyone's trials and tribulations, and although I am new, I feel I know all of you. I am way impressed with the ingenuity of some of you out there, and the elaborate set ups you have created!

Now, for the purpose of this post. I am really excited and hopeful there will be a AP tour in Phoenix this year! (just not on May 10 - I'm volunteering that day for a yard makeover). Has this been organized yet?

I apparently do not know much about "social media" ... And I hate typing on iPad keyboard. Hope this gets to the discussion with the 517 pades of comments! I started system with IBC one month ago, and have had to mourn the death of many goldfish so far. Doing better. Have loved reading everyone's posts ..some of you are such "cards"... I laughed and boo hooed on the fish losses. Will post more when I am on real keyboard, and if I know this is actually posting where I think it is posting.
