This may suprise you but the fewer fish seem to work out the best. We are running 160 ppm of nitrates with as little as 10 fish and feeding about 150 plants. The ammonia levels stay at about .25 ppm all the time. We try to keep our ph levels at 6.6 ppm. At 6.4 ppm we had three systems quit working and the ammonia levels spiked upto as high as 6ppm. We run at the top side 7.6 ppm of ph and work it down whenever it rains to as close to 6.6 as we can. Again 6.4 caused 3 of my systems to crash. We added the city water in at 7.6 and the systems began working again.
I want to ask about the relation between how many KG of fish u can have related to how many plant , so u get the equlipriam of ammonia and both fish and plant live happy???
