I was watching a PBS show on Aquaponics (had never heard of it before) and realized what I wanted to be when I grew up :)Since I was a kid I wanted to fish farm or vegetable farm. Never had the concept dawned that I could do both!I am starting with what I already have in place -1 500gallon pond which currently holds 3 Koi (1 breeding size 24"+) and 2 plecos1 35gallon feeder (guppies) and lily pond1 inside 40gallon aquarium holding a pissy Oscar named Bernadette and the aquatic plant she loves to hateAdditionally I have 9 baby banannas, 4 blueberry bushes, 2 blackberry bushes, 1 raspberry bush, 6 pineapple plants, 1 grapevine, 2 cantolope plants, and numerous reproducing (self seeded from last year) romaine lettuce plants.FUNGUS IS THE MIND KILLERI use the water from my pond to water the garden, but it never occured that I could make a circulatory system of this.My intention is to use these "crops" for personal use, but long term I would like to make a business of this (not looking to get rich). Especially, focusing on the Organic market trend. I am rather depressed at the thought of Talapia though. Rather bland. Catfish dosen't really appeal either. What other options are out there for a Zone 9?
